School Based Monitoring

Argo Floats Programme
The Argo Floats Programme as the Nodes longest running School based programme continues to be one programme through which many science skills can be taught. Measurements of temperature and salinity levels from various depths of up to 2000 meters are observed and changes tracked. The monitoring teams were once again selected and support has been given to understand the monitoring of the Argo Floats. Challenges often have to do with internet connection at the schools.
Adopt a Drifter Programme
The ADP programme has run its course and may need to be reviewed. The instruments power supply which runs only for 18 months The Node only has one weather station that has been installed at Sophumelela Secondary School. The weather and climate programme might best to replace the Adopt a drifter programme.
