SAIAB - South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity

SAEON and SAIAB are both National Facilities of the National Research Foundation (NRF). SAIAB hosts the SAEON Elwandle Coastal Node in Grahamstown and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2004 between the two facilities describing the hosting arrangements, etc. A collaboration agreement, forming an annexure to the MoU, was developed in 2012 to provide more detail regarding the operational arrangement between the two facilities. SAEON Elwandle Coastal and the marine section of SAIAB form an integrated marine and coastal platform and the two facilities are dependent on each other to achieve their various aims and objectives.
