My name is Itumeleng Mabusa and I am currently pursuing an MSc in Microbiology at the University of Limpopo. My research focuses on early stage drug discovery, with a special interest on anti-tubercular drugs. My project is a collaborative study between University of Limpopo and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). We are looking at finding drug leads/compounds from indigenous medicinal plants for the development of anti-TB drugs. I have also recently joined the University of Limpopo’s Science Education Centre as a volunteer science communicator. Being a strong, professional and hardworking leader with a good character and excellent work ethics are some of the principles I live by. I enjoy watching and playing soccer, travelling, collecting motivational quotes and also taking part in TB awareness campaigns.
